Giants in Salisbury - Christopher

ChristopherChristopher is the modern representative of Britain's oldest giant. The original - of which the giant here is a modern replica, remains in The Salisbury and South Wiltshire museum, he is too fragile to travel. We don't know how old he is but a repair bill exists dated 1570.

Every year on the Sunday closest to St. George's day (23rd April) Christopher parades in Salisbury to mark the 'Riding the George'.
